_You Don't Look Too Smart With a Cigar in Your Mouth!
Hello, I'm Doctor Bones.
_ for stopping by.
This year (2008) marks the 3rd annual National Stomp Stogies Week, which is held from Monday, May 19th to Sunday, May 25th. It is a week dedicated
to informing the public (especially children) that cigars or "stogies"
are by no means a "safe" alternative to cigarettes or other tobacco
products.

The
tobacco industry is hard at work glamorizing the smoking of cigars with
celebrities taking the puff. Movie and TV stars, the “Governator” and
athletes from various sports are regularly seen “Stoking the Stinky
Stogie.”
The simple
truth is that Cigars and all other tobacco products are detrimental to
good health!!
Mr. Cigar (alias "Mr. Stogie")

Give Mr. Stogie the Knockout Punch!!

All forms of tobacco contain nicotine.

Above is the molecular structure of nicotine. The black spheres represent carbon atoms, the blue spheres nitrogen and the white
spheres are hydrogen atoms. Nicotine whose molecular formula is C10H14N2 is
an addictive drug. In the brain, nicotine mimics the neurotransmitter
acetylcholine and is therefore able to bind to acetylcholine receptors.
Nicotine activates chemical addiction responses similar to that for
other drugs of abuse like cocaine and heroin.
All forms of tobacco can lead to cancer.

Cigar smoking is a major player in oral cancer (mouth, tongue and throat cancer) which is the sixth most common cancer in humans.
According to The Oral Cancer Foundation, each year in the United States approximately 30,000 people are newly diagnosed with oral cancer. Worldwide the problem is far greater, with new cases exceeding 300,000 annually. For more information concerning mouth, tongue and throat cancer please visit their website: http://www.oralcancerfoundation.org/
Apparently
this simple message hasn't sunken into the heads of celebrity cigar
smokers as seen on TV, in newspapers and magazines and on the web.
Stogie-puffing celebrities should also know that cigar smoking puts
them at higher risk for developing lung cancer, heart disease and
obstructive lung diseases (bronchitis and emphysema) than for nonsmokers.
Magazines such as Cigar Aficionado take advantage of foolish celebrities by featuring them with a stinky stogie in hand. _ _ Is it Coolish or Foolish? Actresses, Soap Stars and Models
